Cavernous Sinus Thrombosis
Cavernous sinus thrombosis is a blockage of the large vessels at the base of the brain (cavernous sinus). This is usually caused by the spread of bacteria from a sinus infection or from infection of the eyes or around the nose. So that the infection in the area around the nose towards the circle of the eye is always taken seriously.
SYMPTOMS
Cavernous sinus thrombosis causing bulging eyes, severe headaches, drowsiness or coma, giddy, high fever, and feeling abnormal or weak muscles in certain areas. To identify bacteria, blood samples and sample fluids, mucus, or pus from the nose throat and sent to the laboratory for culture. Computed tomography (CT) of the sinuses, eyes, and brain always done.
TREATMENT
Infusion of high doses of antibiotics given promptly, if things do not change after 24 hours of antibiotic treatment, sinus surgery drained possibility.
